Lakme Fashion Week 2016: All New Trends Revealed

Lakme Fashion Week is one of the most prestigious haute couture events in the fashion world. This pre-summer, the gala event was packed with celebs, fashion bloggers, fashion enthusiasts and a lot more.

While many celebs walked for their favorite designers, others turned up to the big event to cheer their friends up.

This year, the 5-day program showcased the finest apparels for the scorching heat coming in the next months. The event was themed at redefining Indian textiles, weavers keeping the silhouettes natural and summer friendly.

While designers gave us a tectonic ride in their world of marvelous designs, the audience left no stone unturned to give us a glimpse of what might be trending the coming summer.

Let’s have a sneak peak into the last week’s big event and find out what were our most favorite looks this season.

Day 1 of Lakme Fashion Week 2016

The big event was started by one of our most cherished designers Manish Malhotra with his collection themed around the five elements of nature as well as the tree of life.

We got to see the perfect nuptials between nature and fashion.

Jacqueline Fernandez looked stunning and calm as water with her long flowing embellished gown with a beautiful cape adorned around her.

Doodlage and Qurikbox gave us amazing breezy pieces with a lot of polkas and stripes that just left no room for uncomfortable outfits.

Anupama Bose through her ‘Satrangi’ gave one of her most fantastic pieces mostly consisting of silk- a perfect blend of traditional couture with a subtle kiss of modernity.

The audience got a glimpse of digital, electronic fashion view on the ramp throughing glowing, neon hues by ElekroCouture. The collection was chic and looked fabulous in the way it was presented.

Day 2 of Lakme Fashion Week 2016

The day called as ‘Textile Day’ was a show for the upcoming rustic fashion illustrating ensembles that were wearable, breathable and just apt for the rising mercury.

Wendell Rodricks presented a show full of see through linens, tea soaked and coffee dipped hues in breathable silhouettes. Ghaghras, saris with floor length Cape blouses, chogas, the collection talked purely from Indian textile heritage, classic to the modern audience.

One of the most spectacular part was breaking the stereotypes by Carol gracias walking with her baby bump for Gaurang, showcasing “Jamdani” weave in an international flavor.

Mrinalini Gupta gave us ‘Banaras’ creating ultimate apparels in khadi, that were practical and yet contemporary. The whole week this year gave us everything that was wearable and comfortable as well.

Day 3 of Lakme Fashion Week 2016

Royality and grandeur set the ramp on flares with Sonakshi Sinha swirling to the tunes as she walked for Anita Dongre. Her collection was a crisp flavor of Indian royal fabrics and designs dominated by Rajashtani weaves. This time she plays with motifs and embroidery on feminine silhouettes.

The day went forward with an elegant flowery collection for the spring by our very own Nishka Lulla.

Her airy spring collection had subtle hues of whites and blues with everything talking of blossoming flowers. From midis to knee length skirts with crop tops, the apparels were everything you would want for the coming summer.

Ethnic wear got a complete makeover through Payal Singhal’s extremely stunning spring collection. Her diverse collection had nets, silks and array of embroidered, printed patterns on Lehengas, Anarkalis and Sarees, apt for the coming summer.

What caught our eyes was her ravishing sensual red lehenga choli with golden zari work, that was just too exquisite to handle.

Day 4 of Lakme Fashion Week 2016

The day had a lot in store for the fashion foodies. We loved the celebration of womanhood by DoubtIsOut which showcased its entire collection through women from different walks of life.

Helen, Bharti Singh, Sunny Leone and Laxmi Narayan were seen walking for ‘Ajio’ to clear the clichés that hold women from blooming out.

Masaba Gupta took her signature prints and artistic details with garbage bag pants, Kurtis, floor length tunics, deconstructed blazers and dhoti skirts. Shraddha Kapoor took set ablaze the ramp with her astonishing attitude and an outfit to die for.

True to her brand name, Magnum, Monisha Jaising’s show was a visual feast for eyes. Glimmering in the colors of gold and luxury, her collection spoke of shimmering fabrics with Belgian browns and vanilla shaded.

Lisa Haydon was a walking epitome of richness, posh-ness and metallic beauty in her shimmering gold bodycon gown.

Day 5 of Lakme Fashion Week 2016

The Grand Finale was marked by one of the finest designers of India, Neeta Lulla, Karan Malhotra and Rohit Bal.

Neeta Lulla had her signature designs with a lot of pastel hues blooming in spring. The outfits were flowy, breathable and came straight with a cool breeze for the scorching heat to come. Her art this time had a lot of dhoti pants, long cape blouses, dhoti sarees and kaftans.

The grandeur and magnificence was unmeasurable as Kareena Kapoor stepped out for Rohit Bal, the king of bridal couture, in a ravishing outfit that reflected royality in every sense.

Karan Malhotra’s bucket had plain blacks and whites with geometric designs that were oh so wow for the summer to come.

While the designers had a platter full of style and design for the audience, a whole lot of fashion was spilling off ramp too.

Baggy boyfriend shirts tunics with sneakers and statement bags, a lot of bright hues, crop tops with high waist midi skirts were all over the canvas this fashion week.

Men were seen with groomed beard and check shorts. While many took to baggy pajamas and loose shirts to quench the heat with a pinch of style.
