15 Fashion Mistakes Every Petite Girl Should Avoid

Have you always been called ‘Tiny Minnie’, ‘Little baby’, ‘Pocket-Sized’ and what not? Being short and little definitely fills you with great number of insecurities. Petite women usually have a slimmer  body frame and a short height. Being petite is not your fault. It is just the way you are.

But the fault lies in some very basic fashion mistakes that we bet you girls keep committing. All you need is to stop choosing certain clothes and styles, pick some real good advice and bam! you are no more the petite little ‘Thumbelina’.

Maxi Skirts, Long Kurtis, Evening gowns and kaftans may not be your cup of tea and make you look diminished. There might be some styles that you would have to shun(yes, we are sorry honey!). But here we are to make dressing up a lil more of fun and easy. We might also increase your options when you pick up your outfits.

So little dolls, keep your head high and just stop committing the following blunders to become a fashion Diva the way you are.

1. Oversized Sweaters

Yes, we know oversized sweaters are perfect for a casual day in winters, but you must avoid these if you want to be visible. They are baggy and look like a pool of threads wrapped around the little you.

If you still love them, pick the ones that cling a little bit to your frame. Try to put a belt on to define your waist.

2. Baggy Bottoms

Since your frame is small and sleek, you must wear outfits that define your frame and fit you to make it visible. So, never pick up baggy bottoms like baggy jeans, palazzos, or frill long skirts that just make your legs disappear.

Still want to??? Team the bottoms with high heels or boots to make the look better.

3. Large Bags

We all love huge bags since they create an aura of their own. But, if you are one little doll, it would be great if you just never invest into a large bag. Huge bags will take attention away from you and it might seem that the bag is carrying you!!

4. Midi Skirts/Tea length Skirt, Gowns and Dresses

Anything that covers your legs ahead the knees is fatal to your whole personality. Long dresses again hide your legs and make you look even shorter.

Rather, go for hemlines above your knees or sitting right at the knees. If you still want midi skirts, choose them with slits or huge belts.

5. Calf Length Boots

The trick to “Not look Petite” is to avoid hiding your legs too much. Calf length boots are one big love, but they would hide almost all of your beautiful legs and make you look tiny. Also, the boots might appear bigger than you! Pick up ankle length boots instead.

This might be the hundredth time, you must avoid too long outfits as they diminish your frame. Long tops, kurtis and kaftans might make you look even slimmer and sometimes even make you invisible.

Still want to put them on? Pick the ones that wrap around your curves well and team them with heels. Flats? NO.

7. Turtle Necks

Do not wear sweaters with turtle necks unless you want people to think you don’t own a neck at all.

8. Heavy Furry Jackets and Coats

Blazers and short coats are your instant love. As luring and divine they might look, massive coats and heavy jackets won’t bring the best out of you.

Go for coats that are more fitting and have a flair at the waist to keep your structure defined.

9. Round Flats

Petite girls usually have petite shoe sizes. Round flats might make your feet look very tiny.

You should rather wear footwear that are pointed to make you feel look longer and in sync with your curves.

10. Long hair locks

Petite girls might even have to go for shorted haircuts to make them look more visible. Long hair, while open, might cover you up a lot and take all the attention from you.

You still want them? Go for braids and high buns and avoid keeping them open a lot.

11. Big Hats

Big and bulky hats are lethal to your overall beauty. They might just cover up whole of your face and make you look tinier. Go for shorter hats and headgears if you still want them.

12. Oversized Sunglasses or Frames

The frame of your sunglasses or glasses must be in proportion to your face size as well as your body contours. Too big sunglasses (oversized sunglasses) might look extremely odd and out of place.

13. Horizontal Stripes

For petite women, horizontal prints and stripes make them look slim and sleek. They need to go for vertical patterns to elongate their overall height and make them look taller.

14. Wide Belts

When it comes to belts, petite and short girls should try not hiding behind large belts. You should rather chose sleek and slimmer belts, contrasting them with your outfit.

15. Bold Prints

Big bold prints will take away attention from you. Abstract patterns and small prints would define your figure and keep the whole look balanced.
