1. Yeh Hai Mohabbatein (Star Plus)

What less can you expect from an Ekta Kapoor serial? Since the beginning the female lead Ishita played by the stunning Divyanka Tripathi has worn gorgeous sarees with tempting blouses in every episode. Her wardrobe mostly consisted of bright and bubbly color sarees which she paired with matching or contrast blouses and draped them in north Indian styles. Be it a heavy Kanjivaram or a sequined piece, this doe eyed beauty carries it all off with equal elegance. Moving smoothly from casual sarees to unique designer pieces, Ishita made sarees the must have attire for modern women.

As if Ishita wasn’t enough, the drop dead gorgeous Shagun played by the oomph queen Anita Hassanandani came out sporting one stunning saree after another. Hina Khan’s portrayal of Akshara made this Star Plus Mega soap the longest running serial in India. The Rajasthani styles made into mainstream fashion through this serial. The gorgeous lehengas, embroidered blouses and traditional sarees soon became an object of much affection of ladies of all age groups.

Mostly of blue, cream, orange and pink color shades, these georgette and pure chiffon sarees with patch work, hand embroidery and lace work have been replicated in various online shopping portals by the name of Akshara dress collection. Though the serial went through a lot of changes in the recent year, the fact that they love sarees and so do you, still remains the same.

3. Naagin (Colors TV)

This supernatural serial set some real high goals for young wannabe fashionistas. Shivanya or Shivangi draped around a pretty good collection of dazzling sarees. She pumped up her oomph quotient with those seductive chiffons and dangerously low cut blouses. Mostly seen wearing plain colors like beige with contrast pink blouse or plain white saree having golden buttis this reptile lady looks drop dead gorgeous. Her hourglass figure, toned midriff and winged eyeliner is enough to make guys go weak kneed. And when you got Sudha Chandran as a cast member, you know you are up for some crazy fashion.

4. Kumkum Bhagya (Zee TV)

The transformation of the lead Pragya did bring some great sarees on screen. The combinations were unique and so were the designs. The yellow and orange georgette, shimmer saree with pearl work and green georgette having golden zardozi butta border paired with minimalistic jewelry brings elegance to her on screen character. What will attract you the most are the designs of the blouses. There is only one word to describe the costumes of the serial, Stunning!

5. Saath Nibhaana Saathiya (Star Plus)

The costume went through a lot of changes over its seven year run. The perfect Bharatiya Bahu Gopi played by Bong girl Devoleena Bhattacharjee was traditional, now she is modernistic elegant. Gopi’s sophisticated makeover did give some massive drool worthy sarees draped mostly in Gujarati style. These heavily embroidered sarees having butta work in bright colors add up to the ethnic beauty of the wearer. Thus it has already become a hot favorite amongst women who prefer bright lively colors and heavy stonework. It’s not like the earlier sarees were anything bad, but these are just WOW! She has made puff sleeved blouses a blazing trend amongst ladies of all age groups.

6. Peshwa Bajirao (Sony TV)

Isn’t it given that a period drama always showcases the best costumes? Till date Anuja Sathe’s Radhabai and Pallavi Joshi’s Tarabai donned on these gorgeous Marathi sarees that are worth keeping in a museum display. The bright silks with intricate zari embroidery are something you will cherish as a saree lover.

7. Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon (Star Plus)

Shivani Tomar’s portrayal of the girl next door Chandni gets full marks on the dressing front with simple cotton and chiffon sarees with light butti work and embroidered border. The bright shades of red, yellow and green chiffons worn either with embellished blouses of same color tone or kachhi kalamkari work have carved out its own niche in the fashion market. 8. Ishqbaaaz (Star Plus)

Surbhi Chandra playing the role of happy go lucky Anika never fails to impress us with her head turning style galore. This charming lady can turn even the simplest of sarees into a complete visual extravaganza. Her latest cream sari which she paired up with a shimmery golden blouse has already got the fashion mongers hooked. Her wedding outfit of a gorgeous red benarasi silk sari worn with pearl and gold jewelry kept her look subtle yet dramatic. Her double pallu, flared ruffle and stylish fur sarees matched with blingy statement blouses are setting some serious fashion goals for ladies to follow.

This was always not the case, but something changed and all the credit goes to the great Ekta Kapoor. The TV czarina made fashion an important component in TV serials. Her hugely successful shows Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki, revolutionized TV fashion. It is to their credit that costume jewelries and zardozi sarees made a comeback. These serials paved a fashionable path along which the present TV serials are treading.
